The Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, located on the picturesque right bank of the River Neris in Vilnius, has successfully completed a large-scale development project and is now the biggest hotel in the city. An eight-storey wing with 165 new guest rooms has been added to the Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva complex, and the hotel now consists of a two-building complex. The new building opens its doors to guests today.
After the completion of this stage in its development, the total area of the Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva is 39,500 square metres, and it offers 456 guest rooms. This means that the four-star Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, part of Radisson Hotel Group, has become the biggest hotel in Lithuania based on the number of rooms.
“Vilnius is a wonderful city. It is dynamic yet safe, clean and green, and it is open to changes and opportunities. We fully believe in its potential and we are certain that the development of the hotel will help Vilnius to better realise this by promoting leisure, business and conference tourism activities,” said Massimo Supino, CEO of Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva.
Memorable Moments remains top priority
A shopping mall has been constructed on the ground floor of the eight-storey building, while business organisations will occupy the two floors above. It is currently planned that UAB Carggo Europe, Sixt Lietuva (UAB Transporent), Narvesen and Oriflame cosmetics will operate in the spaces designed for shopping and offices.
The new hotel rooms are located on the remaining five floors. These rooms have been furnished in compliance with the new Radisson Blu standard and the rooms’ interiors contain unique items of furniture which are combined with natural materials, iconic design elements and accents related to local culture.
“We have no doubt that Vilnius will make an indelible impression on all of our guests, and we are ready to welcome them in an environment that now meets a new quality standard. By quality standard, I mean all possible aspects of the guests’ stay. Our clients praise not only our buildings and rooms but also our employees and services. Creating memorable moments for our guests remains our top priority,” explains Massimo Supino.
Sustainability, modernity and comfort
The hotel building belongs to the A+ Energy Efficiency Class. Comfort inside the building is ensured by an advanced environmentally friendly heating and ventilation system that reduces energy consumption. The hotel will also be awarded with a BREEAM certificate in recognition of its excellence in implementing modern design and efficiency and guests’ comfort and wellbeing.
The owners of the hotel, Linstow AS, entrusted the design and construction of the building to the company UAB Merko statyba on the basis of a detailed plan. The architect, Saulius Mikštas, maintains that the structure was designed with the aim of harmoniously blending in with the surrounding cityscape as well as the existing hotel building, which has become an integral feature of the Vilnius urban landscape.
A two-storey underground car park has been constructed underneath the building, while visitors will be able to walk between the main building and the new wing via an underground gallery. A pedestrian area with terrace and benches, separated from busy Konstitucijos Avenue by the building itself, is also being constructed next to the hotel. It is expected that this area will become one more space on the right bank of the Neris that will be attractive for both inhabitants and visitors in Vilnius.
Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, Vilnius, is part of one of the largest hotel groups in the world – Radisson Hotel Group. Radisson Hotel Group™ (formerly Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group) has eight distinctive hotel brands and more than 1,400 hotels in operation and under development around the world.
