Samlerhuset Group and Monnaie de Paris launches the first coin made of Fairmined gold in France

On the occasion of the centenary of the First World War, Norwegian company Samlerhuset Group and Monnaie de Paris, France’s longest standing institution and the oldest enterprise in the world, launched the first coin made with Fairmined certified gold in France.

The coin called “Paix” (Peace in French) was struck in the heart of Monnaie de Paris workshops in the presence of the Colombian miner, Alfredo Gonzales. Alfredo works hard every day to practice responsible extraction and attended the event representing Fairmined artisanal mining organizations from Colombia and Peru, where the responsible gold in the coin comes from.

ABOUT FAIRMINED:
Fairmined is an assurance label that certifies gold from empowered responsible artisanal and small-scale mining organizations who meet world leading standards for responsible practices. Fairmined transforms mining into an active force for good, ensuring organizational and social development and environmental protection. The biggest positive impact to be made in the entire gold industry is with artisanal miners; as approximately 150 million people, miners and their families, depend on this economic activity worldwide.
