MRU is structured within the Faculty of Human and Social Studies, Faculty of Public Governance and Business, Public Security Academy and the Law School.
Research and innovation is implemented at the Social Innovations Laboratory Network MRU LAB that includes 15 laboratories and Research and Innovation Support Centre. MRU research and innovation is carried out in the framework of the interdisciplinary priority research area Social Innovations for Global Growth and 7 long-term research programmes:
• Educational Science Research Programme in the Field of Social Sciences;
• Philology Research Programme in the Field of Humanities;
• Communication and Information Research Programme in the Field of Social Sciences;
• Psychology Research Programme in the Field of Social Sciences;
• Sociology Research Programme in the Field of Social Sciences;
• Social Science, Law Research Programme: Rule of Law, Sustainability and Technology;
• Social Science Programme on Management, Economics, Political Science: Resilience, sustainability and progress perspectives.
MRU has modern infrastructure: the latest research and educational ICT equipment, one of the most modern academic libraries in Europe, open access to research resources, research and innovation management platforms, online studies facilities, etc. According to the latest data of Rotten WiFi the quality of WiFi places MRU in second place among universities in the world. Each year MRU organizes over 100 academic events.
Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) is the leading university in social sciences and interdisciplinary research in Lithuania. It has a vast experience in contributing to the formation of legal expertise in Lithuania and abroad by implementing academically led innovative multi-agency initiatives in collaboration with the courts, civil society, Ministry of Justice, legal professionals and scientists.
MRU experts have relevant experience related to the methodology of the selection, evaluation and promotion of judges gathered through work as EU experts on constructing of the evaluation system of judges in Ukraine etc. and involvement in the self-governance of courts as society’s representatives (as Members of the Examination Commission of Candidates to Judicial Office; Selection Commission of Candidates to Judicial Office; Permanent Commission for the Assessment of Activities of Judges, etc.). Based on its practical experience MRU disposes of the know-how how to create the holistic and collaborative projects frameworks in order to respond to the challenge of the unmet legal and social needs of the society.
MRU each year implements significant amount of international and national study and research projects (around 50 projects per year on average) through its network of Social innovations Laboratories. It operates as competitive, high knowledge and innovation-based study-business partnership and ecosystem management.
In order to bring together researchers, public and private sector leaders and society groups MRU each year organizes over 100 academic events: conferences, workshops, trainings, etc. Due to the strong cooperation with the media MRU researchers take an active stand in publishing research-based solutions to societal challenges in news portals, newspapers, journals, comment on the radio, TV or social media. Annually MRU calculates about 500 media appearances aimed at the civil society etc
